Administration
- One of the fundamental principles that distinguishes
the SPJST from other business forms is that the members - not
outside investors - control the organization. Member control
is exercised through elections of officers and directors on the
local lodge, district and state levels. Member control is further
exercised through the convention which is held every four years.
Our next convention will be 2008 in Killeen, Texas.
-
- It is during the convention that the Society's
bylaws and proposed changes in the structure of their fraternal
are considered. Supreme Lodge Financial Secretary Jerry Mikulas
will be notifying local lodge secretaries during the first week
of October with information regarding the number of delegates
eligible to represent their lodge at the next convention. All
qualifying credentials will accompany this correspondence.
-
-
-
- Supreme Lodge
- While members "own and control"
the Society, responsibility for making sure things run smoothly
is delegated to a 12-member body, democratically elected at our
convention. This group is collectively referred to as our Supreme
Lodge.
-
- The Supreme Lodge consists of five officers
who are elected statewide: President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer,
Financial Secretary and Legal Advisor and seven district directors.
The SPJST elects its directors on the basis of geographic regions
called districts. There are seven districts. Selecting directors
by districts helps to ensure that various regional interests
are represented in meetings of the Supreme Lodge.

have the authorization to deliberate and make recommendations
between conventions with regard to their respective areas.
-
- Bylaws
- The guidelines which describe how the business
of the SPJST is to be conducted is found in our bylaws. The services
that members expect to receive from their Society are also set
out in general terms in the bylaws.
-
- Between conventions, it is the duty of the
Supreme Lodge to oversee the administration of the business affairs
of the Society in accordance with our Bylaws. Copies of the bylaws
may be obtained from delegates to the preceding SPJST convention
or your local lodge president. A limited number of copies are
also available to members through the SPJST Home Office.
